Suncor became independent from founding corporation, Sun Oil (Today, Sunoco in the US) in 1995 and is the original commercial developer of tar sands bitumen in Alberta, Canada and Canada's largest energy company. Suncor has worked internationally on projects where the Alberta Taciuk Process and other bitumen related technological advance has at least potential application for future extreme extraction.
